On September 22, the OSA Board voted to not allow academies into the OPDL in 2014.
USC Academy did not apply for the OPDL in 2014, but recognizes that this is a minor setback for all academies that already achieved ORNCA status (Ontario Recognized Non-Club Academy Status) and that had planned to join.
However, set back or not, now there is an opportunity for USC Academy to provide a top level training environment for young players looking to get into the OPDL or who did not make the OPDL.
Afterall, the OPDL structure is modelled after the SAAC model which has been in operation for years.
The SAAC league is an alternate option for players that do not want to go back to regional leagues (no standards) within the Club environment. USC Academy is planning to again place teams in the SAAC league for 2014.
USC Academy has successfully placed players in District and Regional programs.
USC Academy is an official Ontario Recognized Non-Club Academy. Therefore, players can play in the high level SAAC league, be scouted for Regional and Provincial programs, participate in OSA endorsed show case tournaments, travel to out of country tournaments and play friendlies with Ontario club teams.
